Meet the 2024 Spring Lake Park Tower Days Grand Marshal!
Grand Marshall Pete Yelle
Pete Yelle grew up in the northern suburbs, attended St. John’s University, and lived most of his adult life in Coon Rapids. He currently resides in NE Minneapolis with his wife, Jackie. They have been married for 39 years. They have two children and three grandchildren.
Pete was a business major at St. John’s University, he worked at FMC for nine years until his passion for community drew him to a career in Community Education. Pete worked for Anoka Hennepin Schools and ended the last 20 years of his career at Spring Lake Park Schools as a Community Education Coordinator. Pete made many lifetime friends and connections in the Spring Lake Park Community. Almost 25 years ago, he was introduced to the Spring Lake Park Lions by his friend Norm McCarthy. He has been an active member with the Lions during this time serving as their President twice, Community Needs Chair and Zone Chair. One of the programs Pete is most proud of is the Spring Lake Park Leo’s. He was their advisor for many, many years. Pete loves the outreach the Lions bring to the community, especially the Tower Days Parade and the Spring and Fall Pancake breakfasts.
Pete is also passionate about making others feel welcome. He has mentored many students and community members including his pal, Jason. You often see the two of them collecting plastic for the Lions or volunteering at the SACA Food Shelf.
