Adopt-A-Park

Why adopt?

Adopt-A-Park is a volunteer public service program that enables citizens to contribute to clean parks in Spring Lake Park. Volunteers conduct activities such as litter pick-up, plantings, and general park maintenance and improvements. The City provides trash bags and other supplies needed for general maintenance and improvements.

Groups should commit to at least two clean-up/improvement events per year.

Guidelines

  • All maintenance activities and scheduling must be coordinated with the Parks Department.
  • Filled trash bags provided shall be placed at an agreed upon location.
  • Groups to provide adequate supervision to participants under eighteen years of age.
  • Groups to work only during daylight hours and good weather conditions, and be familiar with the following safety tips.

Safety Tips

  • Wear work gloves, appropriate clothing and footwear.
  • Stay away from construction sites and avoid all light and heavy equipment.
  • Never pick up heavy, large or hazardous materials. Report these to the Park Lead.
  • Stay hydrated, bring a first aid kit and carry a charged cell phone in case of emergency

Acknowledgment

The group and their agents shall assume all liability and will hold the City of Spring Lake Park, its agents and employees harmless from any or all claims for damages, actions or causes of actions arising out of the work being performed. Any or all volunteers of the group or other persons associated with the group while engaged in the performance of any work shall not be considered employees of the City of Spring Lake Park and shall in no way be the obligation or responsibility of the City of Spring Lake Park.
