Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Part-time Seasonal, non-exempt, not benefit eligible
The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking motivated, creative, & team-oriented individuals with the desire to help create quality experiences for children ages 4 - 12 years old in a playground park setting.
Work hours are Monday – Friday, daytime hours up to 20 hours/week. No nights or weekends, other than a few special event opportunities (see dates below under Important Program Dates).
Job Summary
In this job you will:
- Assist Playground Lead Staff with organizing and leading a variety of daily and weekly activities for children.
- Work as a team to ensure quality programs for all ages that promotes a safe, friendly, and inclusive environment.
- Maintain appropriate safety measures for program participants.
- Anticipate the needs of children and parents and are willing to help within the parameters of this position.
- Ensure all supplies are ready for the proper facilitation of daily lesson plans.
- When necessary, communicate program policies and expectations to students and/or parents to ensure a high level of safety and service at all times.

Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, Recreation Supervisor, and Playground Leads, the Playground Assistant position will enhance the quality of life for all residents and foster individual and community in all aspects of physical, mental, social and environmental through recreational opportunities.
Qualifications
What is needed to apply for this job?
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, stretch, climb, and move for the duration of shift.
- Must be able to participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Must be able to work professionally and calmly in an environment which may have heightened noise and stress.
- Must be able to work in warm and humid outdoor conditions.

You may be a great fit if you:
- Enjoy working with young children.
- Participated in activities, sports, clubs, or other groups.
- Have the ability to display courtesy, patience, and friendliness.
- Have CPR/First Aid training.
- Have previous experience working with children, but it is not necessary.
Important Program Dates
- Staff Preparation & Planning Dates: June 9 - 13
- Programs Dates: June 16 - August 15
- Staff closing & Inventory Dates: approx. August 11 & 12
- Tower Days: June 5, 7 - 8
*All Able Park programs are closed for July 4 (no staff on duty).
