Purpose

Night to Unite (formerly known as National Night Out) is designed to:​

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  • Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs.
  • Strengthen neighborhood cohesiveness and police-community partnerships.
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized.
  • To Encourage residents to learn who their their neighbors are.

Activities

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns, and neighborhoods celebrate Night to Unite with a variety of events and activities such as: 

  • Block parties
  • Contests
  • Cookouts
  • Flashlight walks
  • Parades
  • Ice cream socials
  • Sip lemonade
  • Visits from local police and fire departments
  • Yard games for the youth in your neighborhood.
  • Learn who your neighbors are by first name and house number.

Benefits

Get to know the officers that serve your community and have an opportunity to ask questions. Night to Unite has proven to be an effective, inexpensive, and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.  Neighbors looking out for each other has proven to make for safer, more inclusive neighborhoods and community. The benefits your community will derive from Night to Unite will most certainly extend well beyond the night. 

Registration

  1. Fill out registration form
  2. Submit registration to the Police Department:
    • Email or Fax to the Police Department 
    • Deliver in-person to the Spring Lake Park Police Department
